ART FOR AWARENESS

High Quality Art Promoting Important Social Issues

Art For Awareness is a Peterborough, Ontario theatre collective dedicated to producing high quality art (theatre, dance, performance) which raises awareness about important social issues.

Founded in January 2013, AFA's first production was the Broadway musical Next to Normal, followed by the original dance/multimedia spectacle Erasing the Stigma, the glam-rock musical Hedwig & The Angry Inch, and the landmark musical Rent.

AFA's mandate includes partnering with local charities in an effort to raise funds and awareness of important social issues. We are very proud of our collaborations with The Schizophrenia Society of Ontario, the Canadian Mental Health Association (CMHA), LYNX Early Psychosis Intervention Program, Human Services and Justice Coordinating Committee, Peterborough Pride, CouragePTBO, Gender Journeys, the Peterborough AIDS Resource Network (PARN), the Youth Emergency Shelter (YES), and are looking forward to future partnerships in the community.

New Members

AFA is pleased to welcome three new members to the Board of Directors: Keevin Carter, Tim Etherington, and Blake Richardson. Already staples of the Peterborough theatre, art, and music communities, we're pleased to have them join us.
